3 Days from Marrakech to the Chegaga Desert

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Agdz

Your day will
start with a departure from your accommodation in Marrakech at 7:30 AM heading
towards Ouarzazate. You will cross the Tizi-N-Tichka pass, offering
spectacular views of the Atlas Mountains, before reaching the famous Telouat Kasbah, which reflects the fascinating history
of the region.

Next, you will
continue to the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where you
will have the opportunity to explore traditional Berber architecture and
culture. Your journey will continue to the local film studios and the Taourirte
Kasbah in Ouarzazate, showcasing the region’s significance in the film
industry.

After a
revitalizing lunch, you will travel to Agdz, where you will visit the
Tamnougalt Kasbah, providing a fascinating glimpse into traditional life in
Moroccan oases. Finally, you will spend the night in a typical hotel in Agdz,
where you can enjoy a delicious Berber dinner and soak in the warm atmosphere
of this picturesque region.

Day 2: Agdz – Zagora – M’hamid – Chegaga Dunes

After a delicious
breakfast, our day will begin with a visit to the famous Tamgroute Quranic Library, renowned for its
collection of ancient manuscripts and rich history. You will have the chance to
discover this cultural treasure and learn more about Morocco’s intellectual
tradition.

Next, we will
head to the village of M’hamid, a gateway to the Moroccan desert, where
you can experience the authentic atmosphere of desert life.

From there, our
journey will take us to the majestic Chegaga dunes, one of the most impressive
sand formations in the Sahara. Upon arrival at the bivouac, you will have the
pleasure of taking a camel ride through the dunes, an unforgettable experience
allowing you to admire the spectacular desert landscapes.

In the evening,
you will have the chance to witness a magnificent sunset over the dunes, a
breathtaking spectacle that transforms the desert into a living painting. Then,
you will enjoy a delicious dinner prepared with local ingredients and spend the
night under the stars in traditional nomadic tents, where you can marvel at the
splendor of the desert night sky.

Day 3: Chegaga Dunes – Iriki – Taznakht – Ouarzazate –
Marrakech

After a delicious
breakfast at the bivouac, we will begin our journey back to Marrakech.

Our first stop
will be the dried-up Iriki Lake, where we can admire the vast expanses of
desert landscapes and enjoy the serene atmosphere of this unique place. Next,
we will cross the picturesque Berber villages of Fam Zgide and Taznakht, known for their artisanal Berber rug
production. You will have the chance to visit local shops where these rugs are
made by local women and perhaps even purchase one as a souvenir of your trip.

We will continue
our route to Marrakech via Ouarzazate, a city famous for its film studios and
rich cultural heritage. We will then cross the majestic High Atlas Mountains,
offering breathtaking panoramic views throughout the journey. At the end of the
day, we will drop you off at your hotel in Marrakech, where you can relax and
reminisce about your unforgettable Moroccan desert adventure.
